"And now we sit at the boundary
of a new dawn I once would have called dusk. But there’s so much light I say in wonder."
Laura Walker (she/her) is a writer and educator whose work explores nature, grief, and the things that haunt us. Her work is featured or forthcoming in Zone 3 Literary Journal, Cathexis Northwest, Sugar House Review, and elsewhere, including Salt Lake City’s own Peculiar Journal, where she won the Utah poetry contest in 2020.
Laura has worked in education since 2006, when she tutored high school English Learners, most of them freshly arrived immigrants from Latin America. She has spent the past 15 years teaching writing to college students throughout the West. She continues to teach writing courses via the Loft Literary Center and other venues, writing her heart out in between.
From Southern California by way of Flagstaff, AZ, Laura now lives in Utah’s Wasatch Front with her wife. Laura holds an MFA in fiction from Northern Arizona University, where she also served as editor in chief for Thin Air Magazine.
She is currently working on a poetry memoir about loss, memory, and moving on.
